“The NCFA would like to thank Secretary of DEQ Michael Regan and DMF Director Steve Murphey for reopening the commercial harvest of Spanish Mackerel.  In my experience, not many folks in their position would have acknowledged that they were mistaken and taken action to change their original position.  Their willingness to do so is a testament to the true character they both possess and I applaud their actions.”

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

As noted last week, not much going on in the General Assembly this week, although Greg Murphy’s replacement was named for House District 9. Dr. Perrin Jones, an anesthesiologist from Greenville, was appointed by Governor Cooper after being selected by the Pitt County GOP Executive Committee. A Charlotte native, he’s lived in Pitt County since 2003. He will be sworn in next week.
