SAFMC Dolphin Wahoo and Mackerel Cobia AP Meetings

The South Atlantic Fishery Management Council’s (SAFMC) Dolphin Wahoo and Mackerel Cobia Advisory Panels (AP) will meet this week in Charleston. Both meetings will also be available to listen to and comment online.

The big topics at the Dolphin Wahoo AP meeting will be extending the geographic coverage of the minimum size limit for dolphin to North Carolina and/or farther north and modifying the recreational bag limit for dolphin.

The hot topics at the Mackerel Cobia AP meeting will be king mackerel recreational tournament sales of fish on the commercial market and quota, and whether or not the new Spanish mackerel catch limits need an additional “conservation buffer” that could lower our Northern Commercial Quota we have fought so hard to increase.
