Marine Fisheries Commission Meeting This Week
The North Carolina Marine Fisheries Commission (MFC) meets in Emerald Isle this week for their quarterly business meeting. Written public comment must be received by 4:00 Monday, November 18th.

In person public comment can be given either Wednesday, November 20th at 6:00pm or Thursday, November 21st at 9:00 at the Islander Hotel and Resort in Emerald Isle.
Meeting Dates and Times:
Wednesday, November 20th – 6:00pm (public comment only)
Thursday, November 21st – 9:00am – 5:00pm (public comment at 9:00am)
Friday, November 22nd – 9:00am – 12:15pm
As I said last week, there is a lot going on at this meeting for lots of different fisheries. The DMF wants a 40% reduction in harvest of spotted sea (speckled) trout, a harvest reduction in blue crab, large closure areas for mechanical oystering, phasing out mechanical clamming, and possibly early shifting of southern flounder quota.
