The North Carolina Fisheries Association would like to say,
THANK YOU!
THANK YOU, to the many members of the North Carolina House of Representatives and the four Senators who stood strong for North Carolina’s seafood producers!
Words cannot begin to express our true and sincere appreciation for the bipartisan support we received from NC House members.
During our conversations, one thing became painfully clear, most folks don’t really know what we do and, more importantly, what we don’t do. That’s a hurdle we intend to overcome through outreach and education of the general public and our elected officials.
The NCFA is committed to working with the members of the General Assembly to assure that future fisheries legislation is based on a true need not greed.
We want to extend an extra special THANK YOU to the many fishermen and others who showed up in Raleigh, and the multitude of supporters across NC and the entire country who stood beside us in our time of need.
Have no doubt, it was these individuals standing together as one that made the difference!
Fisheries groups from NC and other Coastal States, consumers, state agencies, elected officials, recreational fishermen and businesses and everyone in between stood beside our fishermen, and we can’t be more proud of their efforts!
While we all breathe a collective sigh of relief, we need to remember this fight isn’t over. The CCA and NC Wildlife Federation will continue their relentless attacks against North Carolina’s seafood producers, and they’ve proven they’ll stoop to any level to get what they want.
It’s time for the citizens of this state to stand up to these two groups and let them know, we’re not going to allow their lies and corruption to destroy North Carolina’s commercial and recreational fishing industries.
Moving forward, remember this, we’ve proven we’re fit for the fight!
Capital police said they’ve never seen more people, or had less trouble, from an industry rally and that’s something to be proud of.
Thanks again to everyone who helped defeat the trawl ban, added to HB 442 by the NC Senate!
With Sincere Appreciation,
