LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

Nothing major to report on the legislative front regarding fisheries in the General Assembly. The House leadership did circulate information about President Trump’s Executive Order on commercial fishing and aquaculture.

Legislative leaders are working on “mini budget” bill due to the uncertainty of state revenue caused by the restrictions over Covid-19.

Not fishing related, but the Senate Health Committee gave S-730 THE NO PATIENT LEFT ALONE ACT, a favorable report yesterday. It would allow hospital patients to have at least one visitor during declared disasters and emergencies. The bill is being opposed by hospital lobbyists. The bill now goes to the Senate Appropriations/Base Budget Committee.

God Bless,

Jerry
